Quality & Environment
Backer works in a practical and systematic way to reduce environmental impact, ensure high product quality, and continuously develop our processes. This work is part of the NIBE Group’s guidelines and is driven by everyday improvements - in production, technology, and throughout the supply chain.
Certificates
Systematic processes that saves resources
We are certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949. These certifications are not just formalities - they are management systems that shape how we work every day.

Concrete improvements with clear impact
Our environmental efforts focus on the areas where we have the greatest impact - transportation, energy, and chemicals.
- Geothermal heating has replaced previous heating systems, resulting in a significant reduction in energy consumption and emissions.
- The ion exchange system in our spiral washer means that the water is no longer classified as hazardous waste.
- Electric vehicles are primarily used for business travel.
- Induction brazing is being installed to reduce the need for ammonia in production.
We report in line with NIBE’s sustainability targets, where the Group’s overall ambition is to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 65 percent by 2030. For Backer, this means continuing to work on energy efficiency improvements and risk reduction.

“I want our customers and partners to know that our products are a better environmental choice than fossil-based alternatives—and that we always focus on stable, reliable quality.”
Andreas MöllerQuality & Environmental ManagerQuality built into every process
For us, quality is about more than inspections and certifications - it is a way of working that permeates the entire organization. Our processes are built on clear procedures, continuous follow-up, and close collaboration between departments. Through our certifications, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, we work in a structured way to ensure that every product we deliver meets a consistent and reliable standard. In our day-to-day operations, we use both pulse meetings and targeted improvement groups to quickly identify deviations and find solutions. An important part of our quality work is also 5S, which helps us create order, clarity, and stable workflows in production. When workstations are organized and easy to work in, we reduce the risk of errors, save time, and achieve more predictable production. We also work with traceability for selected materials, allowing us to quickly track any deviations back to the correct batch and supplier. This enables us to take preventive action and make decisions based on facts rather than assumptions. Together, these ways of working create quality that lasts - not just on paper, but in our customers’ real-world applications.

We put saftety first
The work environment is something we address together. A central group coordinates the efforts, while day-to-day responsibility rests with each manager, who knows their area of operations best. The issues range from forklift operation and lone working to fire alarms, incidents, and new legal requirements - matters that make a real difference in employees’ daily work. We continuously work on improvements and ensure that new employees get a safe and secure start through introductions that cover both work environment and quality. When needed, we carry out targeted initiatives, such as problem-solving training for production-adjacent managers, to strengthen competence where it is most needed.
