The 90 kW High Power Resistor (HPR) from Backer AB is an electrical brake resistor for battery-electric and hybrid commercial vehicles. It enables continuous, reliable braking, independent of the service brak, by converting excess electrical energy into heat when the traction battery cannot absorb it. The generated heat is transferred to the vehicle’s coolant and managed through the thermal system. Designed according to automotive standards, the HPR works with a dedicated control unit, includes a temperature sensor for monitoring, and can be customized to meet specific application needs.
