Mica elements are intended for direct-contact heating of smooth, flat surfaces. Mica, or mica element, consists of an electrical resistance wire wound on a glass fiber reinforced mica sheet. The sheet is laminated with two or more layers of mica to fully encapsulate and electrically insulate the resistance wire, preventing contact with external surfaces. The element can be made in various designs and may be encapsulated in metal. Maximum working temperature is about 400°C, with elements designed for up to 4.5W/cm² surface power.
