Energy-efficient operation year-round

Efficient heating solutions contribute to increased comfort, safety, and operational reliability in modern rail transport. Backer’s solutions are used to enhance passenger and driver comfort, prevent ice formation on couplings, and heat narrow or confined spaces where traditional systems cannot be installed. Through technologies such as tubular elements, thick-film heaters, flexible heaters, compact floor and wall heaters, and specially adapted elements, heat can be distributed evenly and energy-efficiently throughout the rail vehicle. For train-related electrical systems, we also supply resistors—ranging from traction brake resistors to damping and filter resistors—that meet international requirements for insulation, shock and vibration resistance, and durability in harsh environments. Thanks to the ability to customize both heating products and resistors, each solution can be optimized for the vehicle’s design, operating environment, and performance requirements.

Applications

Comfort & Safety
In modern rail environments, both passenger and driver comfort are essential. Heating solutions for the entire train create a pleasant indoor climate regardless of outdoor temperature. At the same time, step heaters contribute to increased safety by keeping steps and platforms free from ice - reducing the risk of slips and falls during boarding and disembarking.
Functionality & safety systems
In professional vehicles, technology must perform reliably; regardless of weather conditions. Heating solutions for switches, braking systems, and defrosting protect sensitive components from ice formation and moisture. The result is safer operation, longer service life, and reduced downtime, even in the most demanding environments.
